Blossomstar was dreaming. Dreaming of pain. Dreaming of sorrow. Dreaming of red and orange. Dreaming of hardship. Dreaming of Death. Blossomstar awoke with a start. She was sweating, and breathing rapidly. She quietly made her way to Windtail's den. "Windtail?" she called. Sunpaw, Windtail's apprentice, answered, "She is asleep. She was up all last night with with Robinwing. Her stomach has been bothering her. Can I help you with something?" she asked. " No, i'll ask Windtail in the morning. Thank you." she said. " Your Welcome."
Blossomstar went back to her den, and tried to fall back asleep. She was afraid the dream would keep her awake all night. But slowly, her eyelids began to heavy, and she soon fell into a deep sleep.

When BlossomStar awoke in the morning, she headed straight for Windtail's den. "Are you there Windtail?" she called. Windtail's clear, but tired voice answered "You may come in. Sunpaw is out getting herbs. What would you like?" " I had a dream last night. I want you to tell me what it means."

"Ok, what was it about?" Windtail asked after Blossomstar had set the patrols, and brought each of them a vole. " I dreamed that intense heat would ingulf the forest. I dreamed of the colors red and orange." Windtail listened carefully, then thought about it for a minute. "Red and orange? Intense heat? To me it sounds like fire." she said. Blossomtail's green eyes grew wide with fear. "We must evacuate the forest." she said. She ran into the center of clearing, by now busy. Blossomtail jumped up to the high shelf where she did naming ceremonies and announcements. "All cats, listen to me at once!" she called. "I have had a dream. Windtail interpeted it, and said it most likely meant fire. We must evacuate the forest. Firefly, warn the other clans. If they try to attack you, tell them I sent you. Blackfang, Snowpaw and Larkpaw, help the queens carry there kits. Leafstem, help the elders. Spiderfang and Featherpaw, carry the fresh kill. Everyone, lets go!" Blossomtail led the way out of the camp, Firefly had already gone. Blossomstar wondered if she was forgetting anyone. She counted the kits. Only five. Where was Rainkit? " Rainkit? Who has Rainkit?" Blossomstar called. "Where is my kit?" Robinwing asked Blossomstar desperatly. "I gave her to Larkpaw. Where is she?" Blossomstar ran back, looking for Larkpaw. She couldn't find them, and they had been traveled quite a ways away from the camp. Firefly had rejoined them, and the other clans where making there way to the island, surrounded by deep waters. Blossomstar's heart filled with worry. she rememberd her dream. She had dreamed of death for two cats. Or was it three? None the less, Blossomstar had to find the youngest apprentice and oldest kit before it was too late.

Blossomstar ran back through the croud of cats. Roughpelt pulled her back. " You must stay! I'll go. You are on your last life!" he explained. Roughpelt didn't wait for her to say anything, he just ran.

Blossomstar ran after Roughpelt. Larkpaw was secretly her son! "Larkpaw!" Blossomtail called. "Rainkit!" Blossomtail was far away her clan now. She came to a stream, where she stopped breifly to drink. The water tasted strange. She looked again, and it was filled with blood. Blossomstar ran downstream, where there lay a unmoving figure. And another almost dead. "Blossomstar..." the words came out in a meer whisper. Rainkit had said them. "Rainkit..." Blossomstar grabbed the kit. She looked at Larkpaw. His paw was caught in a trap, and he had lost too much blood. It started to rain. As Blossomstar trotted back to her clanmates,to exhausted to run after her run here, a single tear dripped down her face. You couldn't tell because of the rain. Rainkit was breathing loudly, which made Blossomstar quicken her pase. Lightning flashed, and thunder boomed. A golen falsh of lightning struck the middle of the forest. I tree set on fire and collapsed in flames. The wind spread the fire rapidly, and Blossomstar took off at full speed toward the island, the dieing kit in her jaws. As she approached the island, the rain was slowing, but the fire was growing! The swam the distance to the island then called for Windtail. "Rainkit needs your help! Please!" Windtail nodded and went to get her herbs. Roughpelt had returned, he saw Rainkit. "Where is Larkpaw?" Blossomtail bowed her head. "Oh, no." Roughpelt said. Blossomtail went to rest. She couldn't sleep. Larkpaw, her only son, was dead. But slowly, sleep overcame her. She went into a dreamless rest. When Blossomstar awoke, she heard Robinwing's horrified wail. She went to stand beside the disressed mother to find what she had dread. Rainkit had died.
